Toe fungus does not necessarily need major treatments. If it is mild and localized, a medical practitioner may prescribe something as simple as a medicated nail polish to treat the disease. This nail polish contains either amorolfine or ciclopirox. However, if the symptoms persist and the infection continues to spread, the doctor may prescribe oral medication. Toe fungus can take up to 12 weeks to treat before it is completely cured. It is also important to note that extremely persistent toenail fungal infections require permanent surgical removal of the nail. It may be something so difficult to accept, but you’ll thank the doctor later on.
