Renewable Energy Has Renewed Our Neighborhood

Two months ago at my local Homeowners Association meeting, one of the residents asked for permission to put up his own wind turbine. Everyone at the meeting was very interested in this idea, including me. He got approval very quickly, and we soon had another meeting just for this issue. When we found out how inexpensive and quick it is to build a wind turbine, about a dozen of us decided we wanted one, too. We all work together, helping each other gather and build the parts, putting one turbine up at a time. It’s been great for morale, and many of us are already saving money on our bills.

A Fiberglass Tub Repair Kit Saved Us a Lot of Money

When our old tub looked as if it was about ready for the scrap heap, we found ourselves in a real dilemma. There just wasn’t extra money in the budget at that time. My husband went down to the hardware store to ask for advice and came home much encouraged. They sold him a fiberglass tub repair kit that will make the tub usuable again until we are ready to do something more drastic in the bathroom. What a relief to know that we could buy ourselves some much needed time. When we are in a position to remodel the entire room, that tub will go, but until then, it works just fine.

Low-priced doesn’t Mean Low-Quality

As a newly-wedded couple, my husband and I are always looking for ways to save money. But, of course, we also can’t keep from spending on things we need for our new home. Like mattresses, for example. My father-in-law gave us this beautiful queen-sized mahogany bed frame as a wedding gift; all that we needed to do is find the perfect mattress for it. We decided to look around our area for a cheap mattress that would also be comfortable. We found the match at the third mattress store we visited! We’ve been using the mattress for two months so far, and it’s still as comfortable as it was on the day we bought it. Now we know that when it comes to mattresses, “cheap” doesn’t always mean “low-quality”.

Camping Water Filters

When you go camping, do you take along a water filter for your drinking, cooking, and hygiene needs? Most people fail to consider that while they are roughing it, there is no need to drink impure and possibly contaminated water. We use water filters at home for our drinking water, the water we use on our vegetable garden, and in our showers. We should certainly bring a simple, compact filter for our camping trips too. Bottled water might be an easy solution, but it really is no better than bringing along tap water, since they likely come from the same municipal source. For home use, a puresource2 water filter is great.

Alpaca Socks: A special winter socks

Warm and comfortable clothing during winter season is always preferred by majority of consumers. Sweaters and socks made out of wool and other animal fiber such as alpaca are the best choice to get. Garments that are made out of animal’s wool can keep you warm. However, there is also a downside in wearing one. Most of the problem that is being encountered in wearing wool fabric is that it has an inclination that can result in skin itch. Sometimes wool socks are uncomfortable. However, there is an alternative fiber that can keep you warm and will not make you itchy. This fiber comes from alpaca animals. These mammals produces hair called “fiber” or “fleece”. Compared to a cashmere and angora, alpaca fleece are softer. This is why alpaca socks are comfy in contrast to other fabric materials such as sheep’s wool. An alpaca fiber weighs lesser than other fabric. It is lustrous, durable, strong and best of all it is hypo allergenic.

Organizing The Closet

Just about everyone I meet has one common problem. That is, when they open their closet to find something, they encounter seven levels of closet hell. It is true. Old shoes start attacking; lost t-shirts find their way to you to wreck vengeance for forgetting them. Last years popular sweater has grown and wants its revenge too. Now, maybe this is a bit dramatic, but there is a very necessary reason to keep your closet clean. After you have your closet cleaned out, I highly recommend investing in a rubbermaid closet organizer. It is cost effective and easy to set up and maintain.

Custom Lighting Fixtures

Thanks to the competition that the internet has brought to the home remodeling world, custom light fixtures are now more affordable than ever before. Now, you don’t add a custom lighting fixture just any old day. They are made for you to serve a purpose. The be the focal point of the room you install them in, or in some cases, the focal point of the house. Think of a custom fixture that is placed in a two story entry way that awes and inspires all who enter your house. Now you don’t have to go custom all the time, sometimes a very nice drum pendant lighting fixture is all you need.

We Upgraded To Electric Towel Rails

Our master bath has been  undergoing a slow but steady improvement over the last three months. We did some major work on it when we first moved in to this house, but it became one of the lower priorities when we began to focus more on other areas of the house over time. I still like to sneak in a really nice and luxurious improvement whenever possible and to that end, we just upgraded to electric towel rails to keep those bath towels nice and toasty. I love the comfort of a warm towel when getting out of the shower or bath.

A Helpful Food Processor Review

A food processor would be a present I think my mother would welcome though I’ve never used one. I truly can’t distinguish the difference between the ones I’ve found. The best food processor review would come in convenient at this time. I’m undecided if a processor with numerous different blades will be a very good idea. A food processor is needed as my mother is getting older and can’t use the knife as well as she used to. Although no one else in the family can cook, it’s only decent that we help in any way we can. It’d probably be even better if she taught me how to cook as well.
