Two Harvesting Methods Used by Wineries
Harvesting Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc grapes either involve hand or mechanical picking. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. By handpicking the grapes, you can actually make sure that all the grapes that are picked are truly ready for the winemaking process. You also get to make sure that only grapes are included in your harvest. Although mechanical picking will cover more ground in a shorter period of time since a machine is used for harvesting, you are not able to easily segregate debris from grapes. A lot of them can be part of your harvest, which means additional time is needed to remove them. If you want to make sure that the wine you produce is premium in quality, handpicking is usually the method of choice. If there is lack of laborers, then most vineyard owners would have mechanical pickers on standby just for such occasions.
